DICE is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council. We were awarded a 2026 Brooklyn Arts Fund grant by the Brooklyn Arts Council. :)

DICE 2026 poster designed by D Wang Zhao

About the Poster!

Illustrated by one of DICE’s cofounders D Wang Zhao, the poster was drawn almost entirely with colored pencils. (To be specific, using the same Prismacolors they used in high school!) In a world obsessed with humanizing and normalizing Generative AI (barf!), DICE believes that the core of the indie comics scene is its analog, DIY tradition.

This poster explores the deeply human aspect of making comics and tabling, but with a little bit of whimsy. Making printed matter (which includes comics, books, and zines) is a labor-intensive activity. In the tradition of mutual aid, it’s not uncommon for artists to recruit friends to help them fold, cut, and collate books ahead of an art fair.

D Wang has recruited their family members to help in their “Zine Factory”. By this point, their siblings and parents are very good at cutting, folding, and collating. This is Baba, making a cameo!

Forget about using a sewing machine to do saddle stitching. What if you had people doing it by hand, Cinderella style?

Highlighting some of genres that will be present at DICE, including queer comics, furry fantasy, and kids comix!
